Jacob Dillon is an associate in Crowley Fleck’s Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Department. His primary areas of practice include mining, Indian, and oil and gas law. Jacob handles transactional matters including, but not limited to, complex due diligence projects, title examination of mining claims, and property acquisitions and dispositions. In addition, Jacob has considerable litigation experience defending mining and oil and gas clients on a range of contract and land matters.

Jacob is a Montana native and grew up in Billings. He graduated from Skyview High School in 2010. After, he attended the University of Montana where he was a member of both the Grizzly Marching Band and debate team. Upon receiving his degree from UM in 2014, Jacob attended the Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington. There, he served as the Executive Editor of the Gonzaga Law Review and was a member of the esteemed William O. Douglas Committee.

Prior Experience (Employment)

Prior to becoming an attorney, Jacob owned and operated a local lawn and landscape company – JMD Services, LLC. While in law school, he interned both for Crowley Fleck and the City Attorney of Spokane Valley, Washington. In the City Attorney’s office, Jacob drafted legal ordinances, analyzed questions of constitutional law concerning the First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendments, and worked on a range of municipal issues including, but not limited to, the local regulation of drones and legalized marijuana.

Honors & Awards

Jacob graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Gonzaga University School of Law. In addition, he also received CALI Awards for Excellence in Legal Research and Writing; Advanced Legal Research; and Oil & Natural Gas Law.
