Mark L. Stermitz  Partner

Mark L. Stermitz is a Partner in the Missoula office and is co-chair of the firm’s Natural Resources and Environmental Litigation Practice Group. Mark is a highly experienced litigator and advisor with many years of experience in large cases or projects that involve environmental laws such as water quality, air quality, facility siting, endangered species, migratory birds, and site contamination. Mark has a deep background in natural resource related strategies or disputes involving many different federal or state agencies, and in eminent domain for public projects. He also maintains an active civil litigation practice. Mark has tried many cases from inception through a jury verdict, and appeal.

Before joining Crowley Fleck, Mark was with the prominent Los Angeles entertainment and litigation firm Glaser, Weil, Fink, Jacobs, Howard & Shapiro, LLP. His previous experience includes serving as a trial attorney with the Environment and Natural Resource Division of the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Mark also served as in-house counsel for the Port of Portland (Oregon), with responsibility for the legal aspects of environmental compliance, natural resource and land use management for the Port’s marine, aviation and business market lines. He is licensed to practice, and actively does, in Montana, North Dakota, California, and Oregon.
